Cancer Exercise Classes

Extend HealthCo proudly offer fully supervised strength and conditioning classes to those effected by cancer or lymphoedema.

Evidence shows exercise helps to reduce symptoms associated with cancer treatment. Staying active helps to maintain or enhance your physical fitness, reduce fatigue, relieve mental distress and improve your overall quality of life. It also produces positive cancer fighting hormones and immune cells.

Our classes are open to those who have had cancer treatment or are currently receiving cancer treatment.

These classes are based on research that shows resisted and aerobic exercise can produce positive outcomes both physically and psychologically following cancer.

When: Monday nights at 5.45pm in school terms (breast cancer and lymphoedema)

When: Wednesdays @ 12:30pm (all cancers)

Location: Extend HealthCo, 226 Kincaid Street, Wagga Wagga

Mat work Exercise Classes

Extend HealthCo offers exercise physiologist led pilates mat work classes.

Using your body weight as resistance, a mat work Pilates class is challenging and fun. Before commencing mat classes we require you to have an assessment with our exercise physiologist.

Pilates involves moving your body through precise ranges of motion. Pilates lengthens and stretches major muscle groups in your body that will challenge your bodies strength and coordination. Each exercise has a prescribed placement, rhythm and breathing pattern.

These sessions aim to improve patients posture, core stability, strength, flexibility, balance and breathing with a specific focus on motor control issues that may be contributing to pain or reduced function.

These sessions are suitable for all ages, strengths, abilities and chronic conditions.

When: Tuesdays at 6.30am and Fridays at 12.30pm

Strong and Lean

Strong and Lean classes at Extend HealthCo promote early intervention to improve strength, fitness and balance. Classes are led by physiotherapists and exercise physiologists and incorporate both cardio and strength training.

These classes work on promoting strength and resistance training that is tailored to your needs. These classes will get your heart rate up and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Most of our clients join these classes as a way of maintaining their physio / exercise physiology exercises.

When: Mondays and Thursdays at 12.30pm

Functional Fitness

Our exercise physiologist Sophie provides Functional Fitness classes in the rooms at Extend HealthCo. These exercises classes are aimed for the 60 plus age bracket and consist of balance, strengthening and core exercises. A sense of humour is definitely required. The classes run at the following times for 45 minutes.

Mondays: 9.30 and 10.30

Wednesdays: 9.30 and 10.30
Thursdays: 10.30
